Wondering what to pack for your weekend getaway on South Lake Havasu? Other than your bathing suit, flip flops, and a big happy smile, we came up with a short list of things that we think you will find more than helpful during your staycation here with us at Havasu Springs Resort.

1. Ice Chests
Ice chests are great for traveling. You can pack up your own special food and drinks to spend the day at the beach with your family, or hit the lake for a boat journey without worrying about what you are going to do for mealtimes. We recommend packing as many ice chests (or as large of one) as you’ll need to meet your on-the-go refrigeration requirements during your lakeside getaway.

2. Lifejackets (PFD)
If you are planning spending time on the water during your stay, and we truly hope that you are, then packing your own lifejacket or PFD (personal floatation device) is a good idea. You can’t go wrong with a tried-and-true standard orange PFD, but chances are you might already own a custom one that suits your personal needs better. A standard PFD can be used for many different water sports, such as boating, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, waterskiing, and fishing. Another pro? Most standard PFDs provide pockets for things like snacks, tools, sunscreen, sunglasses, and emergency gear.
Unsure of what size you need to wear? To get the right fit for your PFD, follow these steps:

•Loosen all the straps, put on the PFD on and fasten it up properly. Start at the waist and tighten all the straps. If it has shoulder straps, tighten them last. A PFD should feel snug but not uncomfortable.
•Have someone else pull up on the PFD by your shoulders. If it moves up past your nose or head, tighten the straps. If it still moves up, the PFD is too large and you need a smaller size.
•A properly sized PFD should be snug, yet allow you to move freely and not chafe while paddling, swimming, or performing any water sports.

Pets need lifejackets too! Havasu Springs has many pet-friendly accommodations. PFD’s for your dog or pet are essential to water safety whilst being on the lake. Don’t forget to pick up one (or two or three) and pack it in your bag for your fur-babies. Wearing goggles/sunglasses can also provide nice additional protection for you both during high wind speeds on those fun fast boat rides.

3. E-Z Ups & Folding Chairs
Be made in the shade during your vacation beach days and pack your own E-Z up instant canopy. Many people like these type of canopies for vacations because it only takes one or two people to set up and take down, and doesn’t require the use of any tools. We also think it is always nice to have a little private shaded area during those long beach days when you just don’t want to go home— but you also don’t want to be in the direct sunlight or water. While not absolutely necessary, portable folding chairs are absolutely amazing for lounging in while underneath your E-Z up. Folding chairs are also great if you don’t want to get your clean beach towels sandy, or you can prop one in shallow water so you can relax and be in the lake at the same time. Winning!

4. Beach Towels and Pool Toys
Packing your own beach towels, water toys, and rafts make for an easier and more entertaining day on the lake or at the pool. We provide air pumps for easy floating inflating at our Boat Shop, and also across from our Springs restaurant by the gas pumping station.

5. Portable Music Device
Whether it is a Bluetooth speaker or a good old fashion boom-box stereo, if you want to add some music to your lake days, we recommend packing some type of portable music player for your personal listening enjoyment. Vacations are always better with a customized soundtrack.

Please note that we proudly offer a variety of most of these products at our Outer Harbor Bar & Store. We simply recognize that you were as comfortable as possible during your stay with us sometimes means packing your own personal items— instead of forgetting them and being forced to buy new ones. We very much look forward to having you stay with us! Happy packing!
